In my abstract rustic photography, I seek out colorful and textured subjects such as old architecture, peeling paint, old wood, and aged, worn, and decaying objects. However, the abstract composition and (if possible) attractive color, not the subject, are always the most important qualities for my photographs, whether from rustic or urban environments. My rustic abstract photography subjects come from small towns and ghost towns of the Old West, salvage and junk yards both rural and urban, industrial zones, dilapidated urban buildings, and the marine environment, as well as from Mexico and Korea. Rust, weathered wood, and thick layers of peeling paint or paper are all helpful for texture, but color is harder to come by. Old trucks and cars, because of their bright paint jobs, are frequently sources of good color for my abstract rustic photography.
