My still life paintings spring from my love of the physical world, especially everyday objects, furniture, and plants, and my first paintings and drawings were still lifes drawn from the objects around me. I paint in oil and acrylic paint, draw in pencil and charcoal, and use various other art media with collage. Colorful, richly textured, and with strong form, my still life art celebrates the sensual aspects of both subject and media. I love painting still lifes because physical objects provide a foil for unexpected twists of dimension, design, and allusion, and an interplay between two-dimensional art and three-dimensional reality. My still life paintings vary from highly realistic to quite abstract.
