Contemporary quilts help insipire my "quilt" art collages, which are characterized by a lush abundance of color and texture. These intricate and sensual collages, which are "quilts" made of paper and other media instead of fabric, have multiple artistic roots, including modern western quilts, my own sewing background, mosaics, stained glass, Japanese ukiyo-e prints and textiles, and my work with textures and multiple exposures in photography.  All of these mix and overlay patterns, as I do in my quilt art collages.

Quilt-like elements are included in much of my abstract and figure art and photography, but most unusual are my non-objective pattern collages, which create dynamic and sensuous worlds of ambiguous depth.  Built up of layers of textures and decorative pieces in a quilt-like manner, these art works are essentially quilts created in collage and other traditional visual art media. Although their color may be what initally attracts attention, these collages become ever more interesting the longer one looks at them. As with many fabric quilts, they feature dimensional ambiguity and dynamic movement.
